Privacy and cookies
This site has no analytics, no advertising and no trackers. The little it stores stays in your browser and is there for you: your games, your records and your preferences. That is why you will not see a cookie banner.
What is stored in your browser
Nothing this site stores ever leaves your device: it does not reach me or anyone else. This is all of it:
- Preferences
- The theme (light or dark) and the language you choose, so that the site and every piece remember them. The
ah_prefscookie, valid on alexharto.com and its subdomains for one year, with a copy in each piece’s local storage. It only exists if you change one of them. Like any cookie, your browser sends it with each visit, but the server does not read it. - Games
- The game in progress, records, progress, settings and whether you have already seen each game’s tutorial. Lucerna and Aurealis also keep your unlock code there, if you have one. Each piece’s local storage, until you delete it.
- Unda’s gallery
- The papers you save in Unda. The browser’s database (IndexedDB), until you delete them.
- Velum
- That you have already seen its exit notice, so it is not shown again. Session storage: it is deleted when you close the tab.
- Offline
- A copy of the pieces’ files, so they load instantly and work offline. The browser cache (service worker); it is renewed with each version.
Velum is a product mock-up: whatever you type into its form stays on the page and is not sent anywhere.
Why there is no cookie banner
The law (article 22.2 of Spain’s LSSI, which transposes the EU ePrivacy Directive) requires your consent to store information on your device, except when it is strictly necessary for something you have asked for. Saving your game while you play, or the language you have chosen, is exactly that. What would require asking you is what this site does not have: analytics, advertising, videos or buttons from other sites, visitor profiles.
If I ever add something like that, I will ask you before using it, and saying no will be as easy as saying yes. Carrying on browsing will never count as a yes.
Sensors and devices
Some pieces use your phone’s motion sensors (Gravitas, for example), and the API demos can connect to a gamepad or to a Bluetooth, USB or serial device, or use the artificial intelligence built into the browser. None of this is switched on unless you ask for it, the browser asks for your permission first, and whatever they capture is processed on your device: it is not sent to any server.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any server, it receives the IP address and technical details of each request so it can deliver the page and protect it from attacks. There are no in-browser analytics and no profiles of visitors.
Links to other sites (LinkedIn, for example) lead to sites with their own privacy policies.
If you write to me
If you write to mocotrahxela.stobor.nisofni, I use your address and whatever you tell me only to reply, and I do not share it with anyone. The email reaches my inbox through Cloudflare’s email forwarding. I keep it for as long as we are in touch, or until you ask me to delete it.
Data controller: Alejandro Harto. You can ask me to access, correct or delete your data, or object to its use, by writing to that same address. If you think I have not handled your request properly, you can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (aepd.es).
How to delete it
In your browser settings, delete the site data for alexharto.com: the data of every piece goes with it. You will lose your games and records, because there is no copy on any server. In a private window, nothing is left once you close it.
